Penzance Poetry Parlour

Penzance Poetry Parlour, an occasional reading series with invited poets, opens on Monday 5 June.

Jo BellKatrina has booked top poets Jo Bell (left) and Tania Hershman (below) for the first Penzance Poetry Parlour on Mon 5 June.

Doors open at 7.30 pm, Jo and Tania’s reading starts at 8 pm, followed by an informal Q&A. There will be cava and popcorn.

Entry is by a minimum £5 donation (if you can afford more, then the poets will be paid more).

Please arrive early, seats are limited.

Penzance Poetry Parlour will be held at 40 St James Street, Penzance, Cornwall TR18 2BU.

Jo Bell ‘is one of Britain’s liveliest poets, described by Carol Ann Duffy as “one of the most exciting poets writing today”. Her poetry is funny and humane, serious and sexy. Her work has often been broadcast on BBC Radio and recently in the TV campaign for Nationwide. Jo’s projects include global workshop the 52 project, which became a bestselling book and won her an honorary doctorate for services to poetry’.

Tania Hershman’s  ‘debut poetry collection, Terms & Conditions, will be published by Nine Arches Press in July 2017 and her third short story collection, Some Of Us Glow More Than Others, by Unthank Books in May. Tania is also the author of a poetry chapbook, Nothing Here Is Wild, Everything Is Open, and two short story collections, and co-author of Writing Short Stories: A Writers’ & Artists’ Companion (Bloomsbury, 2014). Tania is curator of ShortStops (, celebrating short story activity across the UK & Ireland.
